ABOUT

About This Site

Feelings and Emotions is a living reference to the inner world, exploring feelings, emotions, sensations, and states of being through a spiritual perspective.

There are moments when you know something is happening inside you, but you cannot tell exactly what it is. Is it fear or intuition? Love or attachment? Peace or numbness? Acceptance or resignation? Is something true in this moment, or is an old pattern making itself feel true?

This work was created for those distinctions.

Each entry begins with a familiar understanding of an experience, then looks beneath it. How does it unfold? What happens in the mind and body? What might it be protecting or revealing? What can it easily be confused with? Where does it sit within the larger movement from separation to unity?

The purpose is not simply to give you more words for what you feel. It is to help you recognize what is actually moving inside you and understand it from another perspective.

The spectrum from separation to unity

A Spiritual Perspective

The perspective offered here is spiritual, but not separate from ordinary life. It looks for the spiritual within lived experience: in thought, the body, relationships, conditioning, longing, resistance, love, awareness, and presence.

It asks questions such as: What is speaking right now? Is this thought or direct experience? Is this fear or intuition? What is underneath the first story I am telling myself? What remains when that story begins to loosen?

At the center of the work is a movement from separation toward unity. Separation describes the experience of being divided from ourselves, others, or life. Unity describes increasing presence, connection, and participation in life without the same sense of inner division.

This is not presented as a clinical model or as the only way to understand emotional experience. Psychology, neuroscience, and other disciplines offer important ways of understanding the mind, body, behavior, relationships, and the nervous system. This work enters the same human territory through a different door.

The language and distinctions used here belong to this particular perspective. They are offered as a way of looking more closely at your own experience.

Use the map. Test it against what you actually feel. Keep what helps you see more clearly.
