Heat Stress
Sustained overheating — the body under strain from excess heat.
Classical Definition
A physiological condition occurring when the body's thermoregulatory mechanisms are overwhelmed by excessive environmental or metabolic heat, leading to cardiovascular strain, electrolyte imbalance, and impaired cognitive and physical function. It exists on a spectrum from heat cramps through heat exhaustion to heat stroke.
